Shadowsinger's Lounge

A Safe Haven for Dreamers and Survivors
Some of you may wonder what happened to the other site - it's still there for the moment but we're having some technical difficulties on the Freenet (understatement of the millenia) so I'm looking into moving in somewhere that might not threaten to leave me without outside contact every six months.

This site is designed to honour two parts of me; the writer/poet/dreamer and the survivor struggling with getting through life on a daily basis.
What's in a name?
The question of where the nick came from is reaching the point of a rote response. :) First, no it has nothing to do with Mecedes Lackey or the writer elsewhere on the Net I've discovered with the same nick. (Isn't ego-surfing neat?) I've been using this nickname since early 1994 and it was originally designed as part of a roleplay my roommate and I were doing. The whole sordid story will be here soon enough.
To live, to love, to learn, to leave a legacy...
The reference is Stephen Covey's, but I think it sums up what I eventually want this page to be - a resource to examine all the various aspects of my life and hopefully help someone else along on the journey. Growth and healing is relative, and while i look out at people who make me figure I'm not even close to having a clue about being healthy, I know there are others I've helped along the way without knowing.

Here's to the unsung heroes and to the unique ability of humankind to learn from every experience, even the unpleasant ones.

Eventually I want to move this here and expand it. If portions of the page are a bit flaky, it's because of the transition period.

Amazon.Com Online Bookstore
I survived by reading - this is a nice resource for those of us who don't have the courage yet to go buy our healing materials from a bookstore in person. They do accept cheques and money orders, which is the other reason I like them. Credit is evil. :(

Dogpile: The Friendly Multi-Engine Search Tool
A wonderful resource for finding... well, blasted near anything! It will search FTP sites, News and of course, the Web.
